Harry Potter and the Unwanted New Release Date

Bad news, Potter fans. Warner Bros. has decided to push back the release of the sixth installment of the Harry Potter films to July 17, 2009. Word has it that production of the film is still reeling from the effects of the writers' strike, which many fans have snorted at, seeing that production of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has long since wrapped. There's also news that Warner Bros. is doing this to make sure that HP 6 will become next summer's biggest blockbuster, given the currently-flimsy movie lineup planned for summer 2009; the studio is also trying to placate fans by saying that HP 6's new release makes it easier for fans to sit through a months-long wait for the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What's to stop them from pushing back HP 7 part 1 to summer 2010, though?

Edit: Looks to me like Warner Bros. may have been threatened by the release of Twilight. The movie was scheduled to be released on December 12, but for some reason, it has been bumped up for release on November 21.
