Rest in Peace Madame President

Former Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino lost her battle with colon cancer at age 76. Thank you for your service to our country! Now you and Ninoy belong to the ages.

I got all teary eyed reading about her death. My memories of those years of frustarion over the corruption of Marcos and the hope of transition to a more honest (though be it less experienced) leader was the first time that the personal became the political for me. I had walked to EDSA from my house and cannot forget the surreal feeling of being in that crowd that eventually made history. Yellow truly symbolized the light of hope that she ushered into the country.

I'm so happy for you that you got to be part of history. We weren't allowed to go anywhere those days :( I cried when I read about Pres. Cory's demise, and spent most of the night reading articles, looking at photos, crying some more. It's a big loss. Mabuhay ang Pilipino at si Tita Cory!

I first learned about the news at work on aol and got teary eyed reading the report. I just sat there sad and stunned. I'm still mourning. But reading or watching all the coverage brings me back to the days of joining the protests in Ayala and EDSA when this spark of patriotism was ignited in me. Now as I read all the coverage, I feel like I'm back there minus the confetti. She will be greatly missed.
