Independence Day 1801

Every year, the Van Cortlandt Manor at Croton-on-Hudson celebrates the 4th of July as it was celebrated in the early days of the new nation. It was 1801 in 2011.

the Captain of Doughty's Artillery Company giving the toast. The toasts were drawn from newspaper accounts from that period. We responded with "huzzah!"
