Reviving a Classic for a Modern Age

Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh both appearing in Uncle Vanya at the Kennedy Center talks with PBS NewsHour. They discuss reviving the classic for a modern age as well as the famous "Chekhovian pauses". I particularly enjoyed their discussion of the pivotal scene (around the 6:30 minute) where Vanya walks in on Astrov and Yelena in an embrace and how director Tamas Ascher developed that scene. I distinctly remember that scene to be so electrifying because of the pause and now, knowing how it came about is just so interesting.
