What's new on Broadway

  • Ricky Martin will be joining the cast of Evita. The musical is set to premiere on April 5, but tickets are already on sale. Ricky will be playing the role of Che.
  • Gore Vidal's The Best Man is heading back to Broadway next year, with previews scheduled for March. The cast is packed with some really big names: James Earl Jones, Candice Bergen, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, and Michael McKean.
  • Speaking of John Laroquette, he will be replaced by Beau Bridges in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on January 3. It will be Bridges' first time in a Broadway musical.
  • A new play may be heading to Broadway next spring. The Fabulous Lies of Hollywood Whores, which will be produced by Lance Bass, among others, is described in its Playbill.com audition notice as an "an ambitious new comedy that revolves around the eight main characters dealing with the complexity of juggling double lives." Kirstie Alley is reportedly in negotiations to appear in the show. If the negotiations turn out well, it will be her first time on Broadway.
  • Kids' Night on Broadway will be back in February 2012! It will take place from February 5 to 9, and shows like Godspell, Jersey Boys, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Rock of Ages are participating. Nick Jonas has been tapped to be the event's spokesperson.
  • This month, the 24 Hour Plays will also see a slew of stars who are new to Broadway: Megan Fox, Gabourey Sidibe, Jesse Eisenberg, Tracy Morgan, Jack McBrayer, and Sarah Silverman.
