Love Actually is All Around

It has become a tradition for me every Christmas time ever since the movie came out back in 2003 to watch Love Actually. It gets me in the Christmas spirit and I have often times wrapped Christmas presents while the movie is playing. I suppose for me, it's a reminder for what the season should actually and family.

The genius of writer and director Richard Curtis managed to weave stories of Londoners somehow connected one way or another through family, friendship or work environment into a funny and poignant movie with credible storylines. The movie stars well known actors such as Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Hugh Grant and Keira Knightly. This format of interwoven stories with numerous stars has been copied recently in the films Valentine's Day and the current New Years Day but none come close to the brilliant writing of Love Actually. Just watch the opening monologue above, voiced by Hugh Grant which sets up the theme of the whole movie.
