At This Performance

(This post was originally published on Dec. 27, 2012 but I'm reposting for updates)

Playbill just announced that Jessica Chastain will be missing three shows of her play The Heiress this January.  The actress has been nominated for the Critics Choice, Golden Globes and SAG Awards for her work in Kathryn Bigelow's film Zero Dark ThirtyMairin Lee will be performing the role of Catherine Sloper on Jan. 10 (Critics Choice), Jan. 13 (Golden Globes) and Jan. 27 (SAG Awards).  You can read more about it here.

In early December when nominations for these awards came out, she was interviewed in USA today where she relayed concerns about balancing her Broadway duties and the award shows:

"I don't want to let anyone down," she says. "However, we have a really great group of people and (they are) so supportive. I'm stressed out about the possibility of missing a show, but I have an amazing, amazing understudy and I'm really proud of her for being able to make her Broadway debut, because she's incredibly talented."

Addendum (Jan 5, 2013):  It's also been announced by BWW that she will also miss the Jan. 8 performance to attend the National Board of Review Awards since they voted her as Best Actress for this season.  Read more about it here
